What size pot should I get for a 7 foot tall Trachy Fortunei

What size pot should I get? I am going to put this in a nice container in my backyard. Plan on putting 2 inches of sand on the bottom of the pot. What size pot would be suitable for this palm? Should be getting the plant this Thursday. I would like to get the pot/container before the palm gets here.

Dan,

I would get the biggest pot you can find. 24 inch is one of the largest I can find. Home Depot.

Mark, I ended up finding a 28" at my Home Depot for $16.00 One of the big Nurserys had some real nice 35" insulated but the price was $250. for those.

Dan if you are having trouble finding a big container for your Trachy, please know that you could always send it to me and I'll find an appropriate container for it. Although I think if you look at the big box stores they have decent sized containers and they are reasonably priced. Those big conatiners with a big palm get HEAVY, so pick up a two wheeler while you are at the store so you can move the new acquisition around.

edit - just noticed you said you found a 28" container. my bad. get a two wheeler.

You want large pots for cheap, try looking at new strip malls & apartment complexes... They landscape with large trees & usually throw the pots away...
