We had seen 70% more snow than the norm. Today we picked up 2 cm of snow but they were calling for 5 to even 30 cm.
The long range is not good also since we might get 5-10 cm more and will break the record that was in the 1930's.
March looks really bad with snow and cold. The highest is only 3C and drops to -6C into March break. No sign of spring yet but
got to give it time. I just can't last into April.
You are all soooo lucky to be in Alberta or BC and also anyone who lives in the subtropical areas. Spring is there for you
Watch out for the lows tomorrow and Thursday nights. They are calling for -20C here in Toronto and possibly as low as -28 (possibly to -30C for my place in Sydenham) for Trenton and Kingston... This will be a good late season test for our plants...
I think our extreme low came in March last year... Hopefully it won't have time to get even colder!!!
Well all the best I can do is a photo (Acacia dealbata - Feb.24-08 ) in the sunny Vancouver Island sky. Looks like you guys have your hands full back east! Warm up soon.
The cold is back and more snow for Friday with 5-10 cm. For next week we might have 7C with some heavy rain possible but
it's going to cool down to -1C because of a possible cold front. Hope we don't get -30C or will harm my zone 5B only peach trees.
Nice photo and tree Barrie. Just bathing in the sun
I will see about coming out to BC but we might be planning a trip to Alberta. I would like to drop and help you.
We had a good mild spell of 10C at CFB Trenton and 14C in our yard. But we are getting a huge winter storm with a lot
of freezing rain and 8-10 hours of it.
Not much freezing rain but the ice pellets accumulated to 8 cm.
Were are getting 30 to 60 cm of snow for Saturday and we have 30 cm in our yard and we should have 90 cm in our yard and
more storms might make it up to 100 cm. The whole forecast is cold but little sunny but more snow will follow.
Hopefully April will not be like this but we can have 20 to 26C weather and will cause severe flooding and we are screwed.
This draging out of snow/wintery weather that we're experienceing is making me angry... I'm ready for sunny skies and 30 degree weather (celsius)!
Apparently we need 27cm of snow to break the ALL-TIME snowfall record here in Toronto (from 1938!). They're calling for 15-25 tonight and tomorrow...
The only positive thing I can say is that we haven't really been blasted with cold, Toronto Island sit at 7a for the winter, and Pearson at 6b... My place, near Kingston, is 5b/6a... Not bad really. Plus, the deep snow is a fantastic insulator...
Oh, man, that's brutal.
Yuccaman are you in Ontario too? (or Manitoba).
Just got this from a friend in southern Saskatchewan: We've been promised warmer temps for over a week now and every night it dips down to -27C to -30C
I am in Ontario around the northeastern shore of Lake Ontario and we are in the area that will get the most snow 30 to 40.
It was 30-60 but changed somewhat.
Got my meter stick and my yard is at 63 cm and is getting higher and nearing the top the stick. I can't believe my grandfather
loves this garbage when it gets near 70 cm and drifts up to 100 cm high and snow hills that are 10 feet high.
People I know are really depressed because of this and the just never go outside. I never really seen a winter this bad.
We are definitely going to break the Toronto snow record and we already beat our 1988 record and we will break our 1938.
Wow, that's a whack of snow.
Hope it all goes straight into the Lake when it melts...
You'll just have to do what other Ontarians are doing...move to BC's interior.
My back yard thermometer read 15 C yesterday afternoon.
Not a flake of snow left...just dog poop.
I can't imagine ... yikes! 10' snow drifts! I don't know how you do it? No homeless street people there I'd wager.
Cold here yesterday Barb ... 8 celcius (46f) and overcast.
We're a tad cooler here today too, Barrie.
At 10 a.m. we're only at 5C ... sun peeking through clouds.
The cold-weather seeds are in the ground (lettuce, kale & spinach), even watered the rows yesterday.

The parking lots are 10 ft and little higher and my yard has 5 to 6 ft snow plowed areas by me. We have 60 cm on the ground
and we had freezing rain and ice pellets mixed in as well. The 60 cm should be gone in mid-late April unless we get a summer
like heat wave but will cause flooding anyway.
Flight delays and no Alberta now because I was going to leave today and that's the only time now. You are right about the
homeless people since snowplows covered their small shelters but not last year.
Still no spring in sight but a good 5C and it's no match for melting snow unless there are days of it.
Thanks Lucky1 hope it does end but it could take 4 weeks when everything is gone.
I will have pictures if the uploading thing works because it did not work last time. I have 98 cm snow in my
yard and we now have 15 ft high plowed parking lots. 8 ft drifts in my yard due to 70 km/h wind gusts.
Got some pics from up north in McKenzie BC from my step son. There's a mess o' snow up there too. The two grandsons are in their driveway and the tallest one is 5' tall for comparison.

Brings back memories when I lived up in Mckenzie many years ago. My friends and I would build snow tunnels all over the front yard when I was a little kid. Sure glad my family moved from there.
The east side of Vancouver Island is getting hit this morning. Not a problem on the roadways (thankfully) but a rare event for us here in early spring. Yuck
We got some snow this morning. Nice big fluffy flakes, just enough to turn the ground white. The Sun came out and it was gone. We are still about 1 week ahead of a normal spring.

You don't have to be crazy to grow palms in Alberta..... But it helps
I heard that you all got snow in the west and we had 6 cm last week from a Alberta Clipper. I am back and feeling a lot better! we lost 40 cm of snow so far but
there is patches of grass with snow.
The snow you all got was convective bursts of snow because the upper level cold air from Coastal BC and Alberta. It's cold right now but very sunny.
When we get snow here it seems to stick on the ground at 3C above 0C. We can now plant because the all of the garden beds have no snow at all but my yard
still has 25C of snow and another part has 5 cm because of wind so you are right Palmettoman! we can start to plant things like bulbs.
Snow is short lived in BC coast but here snow could last 2 days with an unwanted snow storm.
Still can't shake these chilly night time temps. We've not had frost but in some locations it's been a re-occuring nightmare. I was watching a Vancouver TV news station report that it was their near coldest night recorded (-1c) and the record cold is -2c.
We've been in the plus 1 to 2 celcius range for some nights now. Daytime not too bad at about 12 celcius and mainly sunny.
Barrie, I heard your temperatures are warming a lot in the long range and even now with coming highs around 12C to 15C.
We have the same forecast with highs like 10C 11C 12C 13C coming up and should melt all of the remaining snow but the Trent
river that's almost beside us could flood badly.
There is two creeks that are starting to flood now and it will only get worse. The whole forecast is seasonal or above for April and rain is coming.
I hope this does not get bad and as for the Trent river still has an ice jam and its melting rapidly. I will post photos soon.
Good luck with the Trent River. I used to spend about every 3rd spring standing flood watch on the Peace River when my mother lived less than a block from the river. She finally moved into a complex well away from the river.

Well they are a hardy lot aren`t they. I could not imagine what that would be like. If we get 6 inches that`s too much. I`m thankful I live in the Okanagan. Looks like the praries are in for more snow tonight and tommorow and double digit cold temps. Winter is holding on for a little while longer there.
Oh Yes! I get to wake up to -4c and 3mm of snow this morning. I take the CTV weather advice much more so than the weather network and they say its going to be +4 today and +8 tomorrow with no temps going below -5c in the long range. Lets hope it can hit those temps so we can have clear roads again. Its ridiculous that just yesterday, I finalized another landscape job for the season and it was nice and sunny outside at 8 at night.
As we left the Home & Garden Show last night, it began to snow with the odd big fluffy flake. I was jacketless and feeling a little chilly as we watched the flakes melt in the air.
Someone behind me said 'welcome to Alberta'. We got home and the flakes were melting on contact with the ground.
I just got up. There are 2" of snow on everything and it is still snowing heavy.
Welcome to Alberta
Allen
PS. Officially it is cloudy and -4C. I can't tell if it's cloudy or not. I can barely see the neighbor's house for the snow.

I heard you got some snow recently around 5 to 10 cm. I remember to this day we had an 2 inches of snow due to lake affect and this year today it's 15C and
rising!!! and the snow was last year and this year its trying for 20C. The Trent river has gone down a bit but some creeks are still flooded.
Newfoundland got all that snow from constant Nor'easters *shivers* and we had so many Colorado lows that had everything to thunderstorms to blizzards.
