i have few seedlings of araucaria. one survived this winter outdoor 2 years old, lowest temp was -13C, but few weeks it was below 0C.
very nice plant unusual look.

great tim! i like grandiflora too. i planted one two weeks before,small plant about 50 cm high. also i have grown 3 edith bogue from seeds. this one i've planted outside is not edith bogue and i think less hardy. it has some leaf burned. if it dies in winter, edith bogue comes to it's place.

lowest temp was -13 C. lot of days around -10C, and few weeks temp was not above 0C. here is problem in europe that we have wet winers. if the palm roots are dry in winter than it can survive much lower temps than it says for every specie. also long period of time temps do not rise above zero C. fro...

cameron, any news with your needle palm seeds? did they germinate? some of mine look like they are ready to. :D i removed the outer shell, soak it in water for few days and put it in soil on the window bench above radiator. some broke the skin on seed and ready to come out. yeah! but some small bugs...

great cameron!!! i have some experience with araucarias. in its first year you need to spray it a lot with fungicide,every 2 weeks. fungus like to kill them when young. from about 30 seeds i got, just 6 stay alive. remember, every 2 weeks. now you should replant it. so that each has its own pot. and...

it would be great to have opuntia like that one in my climate. that size. even my fragilis would never be big like that one,still it's ok. also humifusa and other opuntias i have. they are hardy but cant grow high, more to the ground. last year i left 2 opuntia ficus indica outdoor during the winter...

hi cameron. did u find something more about this olive? at the web there is no much info. besides bulgarian aberquina this cultivar could be great for cooler climates. for example mine. it would be great to have my own olives, in zone 7a.

thats clever too barb. i think it will have same result. you should wait a while. mine were too long in soil without any results, so i didnt had nothing to loose. "operation" succeeded.

i didn't grow mine cidp from seeds of those from dalmatia. i bought mine in one nursery,for about 5 dolars. it was damaged a lot but central spear was green and healthy,and i took it. regular price was about 40 bucks,but because it was damaged there was a discount. dalmatia have mediteranean climate...
