Never make any winter protection which has zero ventilation. I fried & killed my first palm because of that. I thought that high temperature inside will be enough to make it through Winter

Do I recall correcylt that yuccas need a little bit alkaline soils? My soil is mainly sandy but acidic I guess. Im planning on checking its pH cause I've lost few yuccas, plus typical desert species like harrimaniae, baccata, rostrata etc. grow so slowly and die in the end. Im wondering is it my ...

Thanks, they took many years to look like that, I'm sure in time they will clump huge. If they don't, could be the soil or like you said the precipitation. The soil is almost pure sand (must be kinda acidic because conifers love it) plus some added stones for drainage. Speaking of precipitation ...

Paul, we used to have similar Winters here in Poland, especially in Eastern parts of the country
I see that S. minor is a very tough SOB! Looks way better than R. hystrix.
