The things we do............

I don't have to water all my indoor/over wintering palms at the same time(over 130) I have to use well water from the spigot outside...even a day like today when it's only 0F outside. 10 milk jugs filled twice. Use a short garden hose attached to a filter(to keep iron out) then...warm water I use in...

Yep, just electricity....and we have cheap rates compared to most of the US. On propane for house heat as a secondary, as it's only used when temps dip below 22F Heatpump is used above that temp. I have some warming trays for seed that I germinate, a radiant heater in the greenhouse to keep it from ...

Well I meant using it to wrap Round the root ball, buried in the ground. Ones I use are meant to keep pipes from freezing and have built in thermostats much like a thermocline.

Googled that species and is cold hardier and doesn't mind wetter winter conditions.

Is it just a regular Pindo?

I've asked Mike to do a detailed video of his process. With all of his success, guess I don't know why more of us don't simply copy his method. Styrofoam is cheap, but I still would have to deal with storage with all the palms I have, plus 1 light bulb would be less costly to have on than a string o...

I think Mike uses is 2 inch? (or thicker) Styrofoam enclosure, then wraps it all up and uses 1 small light bulb on a thermocube to add light..and to a degree heat inside. He over winters quite a few on his property that way, so he must have a great place to store those Styrofoam panels when not is u...

Nice post. I also was given that advice for a Sabal Louisiana that I bought from Steve Anderson...which made me question about when I plant it in the ground this spring about how wet I'm supposed to keep it as I thought they were also drought tolerant.

Good to know. Have been sowing some from seed I bought and have been easy to germinate. Have one that really took off and I think I will just let it get used to being inside and see how it does. I don't think many people try these inside to see how they will do.
