Thanks Barb. Those waggies are the pride and joy of my collection. The potted one sits in full sun on my deck while the planted one gets just a few hours of direct light. Not sure which I prefer, but they both seem happy which makes me happy :D

Trachycarpus Fortunei Rehabilitation Project: October Update

I last posted on the progress of this trachy in April when I planted it in the garden. I had bought it in sorry shape with yellow fronds in January. It was reduced by 75% fro its original price of $130.00 so I decided to try to rehabilitate it. Ten months later it looks like its getting healthier ...

Canadian Desert Garden Update

This is a link to my video updating the progress of my small desert garden in Southwestern British Columbia Canada. I posted a similar video back in January but there has been a real explosion of growth since then. All of the opuntia fragillis cacti are native to our province. http://youtube.com ...

James nice pics of a rare snow day in Vancouver. Are those Trachy`s a hybrid T. fortunei x T.wagnerianus? The fronds look very rigid and smaller than a regular form of T. fortunei. John Good eye John but neither is a hybrid. The one in the first pick is a waggie, the one in the second is a fortunei ...

Thanks for the suggestion. Frankly, i has never heard of this plant but based on what I read on wikipedia it seems perfectly suited for my garden. The problem will be finding some.

Canadian Desert Garden

This is a quick video of my new desert garden in the Vancouver Area during its first winter. I know this is a temperate rainforest but who says I can't have a little bit of the southwest USA in my backyard. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-hAOiIljmJo&feature=plcp&context=C3821667UDOEgsToPDskIYeaipZ0 ...
