I am happy to say that it only took a week!
Thanks for all your help. Fresh seeds and yoiur help made more then 50% pop in less then a week! I am going to give the rest of them time still but I wanted to thank everyone so fast!

Mystery "tropical plant"
I am giving up on trying to identify this myself. Another great buy at walmart (another $1.25 plant, I love their clearance), but unfortunately no name on it. The plant is about 10 to 12 inches tall right now and at least 6 inches across. It is super dense right in the center and my camera doesnt ...

Is there a good source for info on germinating temps?
Hubby sent me some seeds from the Phoenix dactylifera from our house in Saudi. I fashioned a heating pad to turn off and on based on temps, but I cant decide what range to set it at. Is there a good site that lists the best germination range for various palms?

Thanks for some ideas. I already know that I am not going to be able to have them in the ground and survive more then 2 or 3 winters without extensive protection (Living in Garden City, by the way, already had frost several times).
