Can Musa basjoo sit in a shallow pond?

I've heard they can, if it's in full sun.
But will wait for advice from the experts here.

Basjoo should tolerate being in a shallow pond as long as the corm is above the water. :D

Years ago, one died because it dried out.
A friend suggested growing it in a pond as they apparently love to be wet.
