Here's to all the global warming pushers, may your winters be -30 below and four feet of snow in your driveway. Because I want you happy.

Strange eeh?
My eyes were immediately drawn to that area although it is not really part of the trail....
Angel or Demon...hmmm,that may be a matter of- what we have inside we see outside-
I saw it as both at the time but I was getting off the mountain anyway
Intersting you say B.Armata,I am not an expert but the boot jacks look more like a Washy
but as you say,it is most likely "Brahea Armata".
In regard to the others-
Robusta-there are 2 picks of the same tree here, obviously Robusta
<a href="http://s297.photobucket.com/user/orbea6 ... 4.jpg.html" target="_blank"><img src="http://i297.photobucket.com/albums/mm22 ... 09abd4.jpg" border="0" alt=" photo 100_7796_zps1109abd4.jpg"/></a>
All the other(excluding Armata)are Filibusta,it really is amazing that you can have such a fat mixture
but they really do range from 95%(guessing)Robusta to 95% Filifera...there are so many of these that pure Filifera
appear to be more rare,at least because you can see Robusta up above all the other palms....my guess on why they range
so widely in appearance is that you obviously have massive cross breeding going on between the 2 BUT you also have cross breeding
between all the Filibustas which in my observation are the most frequently seen of the Washys....
Truly the Robusta stand out becasue they are tall when true to form, the Filifera do too when you catch a glimpse of that massave trunk
but there are so many more Filibusta!
I think they did pretty good in the island between lanes going through the subdivision here but even in a row with hundreds(?)
of Robusta,I did notice too that are fatter like Filifera-they do stand out in a row of 98% Robusta's...I will get a pic if I remember.

Even with my "cheat sheet" in front of me, I won't hazard guesses.
Yeah, that is a cool-looking shadow

I think one way you can tell is look at the petioles and see if it has woolly hairs, I don't think filifera has woolly hairs on the petioles.hardyjim wrote: Intersting you say B.Armata,I am not an expert but the boot jacks look more like a Washy
