Cool Barb. I found some leaf fossils from the Pennsylvanian period (300 MYA) in coastal Rhode Island. They are in my garden bed......cool stuff. Most of our rocks around here are igneous....there are a few pockets of sedimentary rock.....not much.

Were you able to ID the species?
Yup, igneous rocks don't have a lot of fossils




unless of course it's Satan's dog

Most of what used to be BC's sedimentary rocks/fossils (and topsoil for that matter) is now in Washington and Oregon States, thanks to the glaciers.

I was able to ID the fossil leaves........forgot now but they look like mimosa leaves. I wish I could find more!

I found some marine type fossils in Oklahoma too......along the Canadian River in eastern OK......limestone type rocks.
