Carl Pool Palm fertilizer?

Post by sashaeffer »

Seems like there is no magic bullet when it comes to palm fertilizer and Carl Pool's seems to have a lot of good press.

Another brand called Dynamite Palm fertilizer looks great on paper, especially since it supposedly has a application rate of every 9 months vs the 3/4 on Carl Pool.

Problem is, that can't seem to buy it anywhere..even online, seems to be sold out. Home Depot is a distributor for the Dynamite brand and even a email and phone calls to

Home Depot home office came up empty handed as far as ordering from them and having shipped direct to the store I shop at.

So....Ordered 3 4lb containers today.

Anyone here have personal experience with the Carl Pool 12-4-12 Palm fertilizer?

Here in S.C. John Deere Landscape Supply (Formerly Lesco) carries a decent palm fertilizer. Price is pretty good(around 25.00 per 50lb.)

Yes we have Lesco here too(I used to own a lawn service) but can't get a single bag. :(

I'm sure there isn't a huge demand here in the midwest for palm fertilizer!

Carl Pool is my favorite palm fertilizer by far-good to start early in the summer with
it as it is time release-unfortunately my palms got it late in the fall because in our drought conditions
it was slow to release but if I only had one choice it would be Carl Pool on all my palms....

Jim, I was going to buy that 50lb bag for the $35 but for some reason it wouldn't let me buy just one bag, count would always jump to 2 bags.

I bought a fertility plant gauge and it shows my indoor palms to be at the minimum of the fertility scale.

So bought 3 4lb cans at $8.50 a can.

Well, received my 3 cans of Carl Pool today and it should last me a while! Looks different than most fertilizers I've seen so hope it works well.
