First winter planted!

Wondering how it was doing after -20C twice so far this winter.
Stuck the camera under the tarp, and YIPPPPEEEEEEEEE!

Thank you Igor.
I'm so glad I put the T3 thermocube in the Brahea's enclosure as the armata is more sensitive to cold than the Washies I would think.

Planted it on a warmish day early April 2013.
I think it liked our summer heatwave. 8)

In London (UK) I've seen some good size Brahea but no Washy.

Whoa, that B.armata is a fine specimen. :shock: :compress:

Wouldn't have thought it could handle all the UK rain.
Reflected heat from adjacent bricks would be beneficial year round.

Those are some nice looking Washies.
Look to be about the same age as mine.

I'd better break into the Washy enclosures for a look. :roll:

Igor ...its not surprising to see Brahea Armata doing well in London there are plenty of CIDP planted out there and thriving and much bigger Washingtonia than the one in your pic :D

yes it is Andy, and it has a twin that got the same treatment.
Remember I was warned NOT to even "disturb" the roots because it would sulk and not grow.
Well you saw what I did.
Took every ounce of soil off both of 'em.
And coming up gangbusters.

I looked at my brahea armata yesterday and it has grown in its enclosure. It will get uncovered in a week or so.

Hard to know just how much heat to apply.
