I'm getting Beny's weather her first. Saying 2" of Rain and with 50mph winds then a freeze over night should make the drive tomorrow interesting.
I got home last night and it was slightly above 0 I dug a path out to my small trachy and pulled the box off and it looks unscathed from the winter. I didn't grab any pictures I left the camera in the house. I was shoveling the waist high snow to get there. I was tired after all of that and didn't check my chamerops humilis but considering the protection method was the same and no leaf burn at all on the Trachy I'm sure the chamerops humilis looks just as good as well. All of my Agave/Yucca rose cones are completely buried. I hope to see them reappear after this rain. Hopefully they pull through as well.

just a little bit more and I'll get rid of these. Trachy (big box in front) will come out as soon as possible, but washy (skinny box in the back) will stay in till May but I'll take out the tarp so I can open it up in warm days.

We've had a mild spring day today 18C... good shirt sleeve order and with high pressure in charge no more rain for the foreseeable future except Scotland of course. Good to see most of you are in positive temperatures now. The rising Sun's strength will win out in the end

The local people were complaining about the worst winter they remember, but we had a very good week. Lots of sun and quite warm for more than half of the stay.
I've seen a lot of sabal palmetto and sabal minors that looked ok. A few washingtonias that were all fried and very few trachys that had no problems.
I also saw quite a few very big butia (I think) there were completely fried only a street or two away from others that looked untouched. I will post post pictures when I get home.
This is the area were we stayed:

But not us! Feeling bad looking for minus 6 C on April 23rd morning.... Hate it! By the way my magnolia stellata flowers look great after being frozen last Tuesday at minus 7C. Love the hardiness of that Magnolia beauty!lucky1 wrote:About time folks in the eastern half of continent got a break! Enjoy... Barb

Glad your Star Magnolia made it through nicely.
So did mine.

Yes, -6C isn't good for the end of April, Igor.
But you seem to be warming up nicely during the day.
We've cooled off again...near zero C overnight, and cool rainy days.

It's not funny anymore - there is badly snowing outside again. Those two stellatas are finishing blooming but the Susan would have been starting soon but I doubt if it will be ever happened. And your stellata is gorgeous, Barb! Thanks for sharing!
