Cat peeing on potted Trachy?
I was examining my Trachy that I am intending to plant this spring, and I smelled a very strong cat urine smell, and all the dirt around my palm was SOAKED with cat urine...I have since put all the cats outside, but what can I do to save my palm, or is it too late? I'm going to be pretty ticked if my mom's annoying cats killed my $150 palm -.- Any tips appreciated...thanks!

Yea, I bought a Blue European Fan palm 5 gallon from phil and kept it outside now for two summers. Never really took off, and I would keep loosing suckers. It really looked bad after a while until one day I saw my male dog raising a leg and peeing on it...right into the pot no less. Explained why it looked so bad. With all my potted plants and palms at the same height, it was that one he chose to pee on. Needless to say it got moved and hopefully will recover.

Male dog pee will also totally destroy the aluminum fins on an AC condensor. My idiot dog was pissing on mine one winter for whatever reason. He's small so it didn't do much 4"x4" of damage but a big dog will wreck a unit in no time! Google image "dog urine ac condensor" to see the carnage.
I would flush it out like suggested and discourage them from using the trachy as a urinal.

Yup, discovered my neighbor's cat was peeing on potted palms in summer...the stink and "depressions" were proof as I don't have a cat.
My German Shepherd is indoors overnight, thankfully dog's a female so no raising leg issues.
Fixed that by placing fist-sized round rocks totally covering the soil on all my potted stuff.
Helped also by keeping palms from falling over during strong overnight winds.
Was gonna "live wire" the soil, but don't have any electrical skills.
Flush thoroughly with room temp water, several times.
But winter isn't the time to soak palm soil.
