My Parajubaea Torallyi came today!

Post by wxman » Mon Mar 23, 2009 4:04 pm

I ordered a parajubaea torallyi off Ebay 10 days ago and it came today!! I rolled the dice with the weather and hoped there would be no major arctic outbreaks in the country when I ordered it. It came from California. I just had to order it now because who knows if this palm will be on Ebay come summer. I already have a spot for it in the front yard and will be protecting it in ground over the winter like my other palms! Here are some pictures:

Anyone else have one of these palms?

wxman, how has it done for you since you got it? I plan on ordering one later this week as we'll have a break in the weather for him to ship.

I've bought a lot of stuff from him this year as well and have always got good stuff, although none of the seeds I've bought have germinated....not one.

it is a beautiful feather palm with supposed hardiness. I bought one a few years ago and it died after -5/6C. No it is not in any way hardy in my opinion. I have a pic of mine on my old laptop which I will upload.

Wow, that was a beautiful specimen. Too expensive to try again, but bring it inside?

Scott.. to bring inside I would need a Conservatory which unfortunately I don't have. I could get another for about £50 the same size but I'd rather spend my money on palms that can have a half chance of surviving. A few years ago this palm was thought of as a goer. The poor winter maximums in the UK does not help its cause. Good luck with yours and wxmans :D

Got mine delivered today too, having it shipped between cold spells here in December. Will keep it inside this winter and if it does well in the large pot it's in will keep in garage next winter. Very nice sized palm for $29 on Ebay with Palmswholesale.

Very nice palms, I had been looking at them but feel that I have too many inside palms at the moment.

With my agave collection reaching 150 I am completedly out of space. I am even storing a CIPD, pindo and majasty in my hot water heater room on the back of the house. I really think im going for a few more birminghams. And I want some really good size ones too.

So far hanging in there after having two fronds turn color and dry up. Palm shows active growth though as I marked the newest spear coming up.
