Osage orange collecting this past weekend

Post by seedscanada » Thu Nov 21, 2013 10:09 am

Brought the family out to collect Osage oranges after a movie this past weekend. Usually, I include them in our winter urn arrangements.
Maclura pomifera has some of the hardest, most rot resistant wood there is.. aside from some exotics. : )

One of the biggest I have seen:

The boys HAD to bring one to school to show to their classmates.

Adam, nice photos of your family.
That is soooooo cool!
Haven't seen any Osage growing in the Okanagan.
We're probably too cold.

Barb I bet you couldn't kill them if you tried!
...and from the compost bin comes a voice: "oh yes she could".

Thanks for the stats and offer, Adam, but I'll enjoy them in your photos.

People would have to wear a hardhat walking under those trees.

Hardhat indeed. Not a good tree to overhang a driveway, house, road.... Anything.
