Bat Guano

Post by Dean W. »

I put some bat guano on my Rhapis. It was a little high in nitrogen and lower in others. It's like 11-1-1. I'm hoping to get some green growth; they grow so slowly. :)

Hi Dean, nice to see you back!

Palms generally like a 3-1-2+mag+mn ratio plus chelated trace elements.
The bat guano ratio is off, but if only nitrogen is deficient in your plant, it'll respond.

Have you tried giving your Rhapis some epsom salts (1 tsp in a gallon of water)?

How'd your other palms fare over the summer?

Thanks Barb! No, I haven't tried the Epsom salt on the palms yet. Most of my collection died. Although I do have a few palms and most all cycads.

I'll see if the bat guano does any good. I really like the Rhapis though. So I'm hoping it does well. :)

My Rhapis croaked this year.
Forgot to move it away from hot sun and drying winds.

Let us know if the guano kicks in some growth.

Okay, I'll let you all know. The darn thing grows so slowly.
