When my sabal gets too tall I plan on giving it a hurricane cut just to fit it under its protection. May not be whats best for the palm but atleast it will be alive a little longer.

If you kept the bizzy potted and burried the pot, then heating the soil would become easier. Plus having it potted will slow its growth. I definitely agree a bismarkia is the only palm I would go through this trouble with. Luckily for me I am much warmer and may have better chances. Barb, how long y...

Its gonna be tricky. I lost one two yrs ago in a pot cause I let it dry out. And being a zone 9b palm they will require more heat than your trachys. Youll probably need to keep it on a thermocube and really watch it. I planted one last week and I really hope I can keep it happy this winter.

Its kinda the same here on the east coast. In NC the biggest collector I know is Tony Avent of Plant Delights nursery. He may have more agaves than me. Most ppl on xeric world are from much warmer and dryer locations. I average about 45" of rain here which makes most succulents to tender for pl...

There are several variations. If I had my laptop I would post an old photo from last summer. Its not that potatorum has a definite shape. Peroxide would help if you have bud rot. That looks like there is some tissue damage. Not sure if it will grow out, but I doubt it will ever straighten. Once again is the tissue in the bend soft. If so its probably rot. If not then I would look inside for any infestation.
