Looking good Barb! Gotta love the sun, as you can see from Tim we got some white stuff with a bunch of rain. 100 trachies covered in snow priceless  Good thing it's gone as fast as it came. The rain was nice even though it was cold. Sunny and 50's for the weekend, maybe there wrong and it will...
I Remember a 39" snow storm that year. It was the first season living at my new place. That was a fun Nor-easter to watch, I remember the snow melting very fast even though it was super cold after that storm. Your S. Mag was mini then, amazing how fast it grew over the years.
Paul check out the trachies stuffed into my greenhouse. Not sure if this is the best way to get you to them but it should work. http://www.palmsnorth.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=3090&start=0 I'm going to update it today unless I enjoy the outside to much during the day  I'm heading outside r...
Hey Paul, Some palms actually have both parts to make seeds, for instance sabal minor does everything on it's own. In rare cases trachies can actually do the same but like I said it's rare. To answer your trachy question the male flower opens up first and is bright yellow, it also has a more open lo...
The jungle in Costa Rica was something to see for sure, I wish back when I was there I knew more about the plants and trees. I really need to look back and see if I can find some of those pictures, I've looked a few times for them in the past, they must be packed away somewhere. I'm sure I took more...
Wow Jim, things are looking fantastic this year! The ferns look amazing, I'm really surprised they stayed that green with the lights on them all winter, the lower temps really did them wonders. The ferns are going to be crazy nice this summer, I can't wait to see how big they get by October. The pal...
Jubaea, Nice pictures, isn't Fairchild out of this world, it's amazing what can be grown in S. Fla. I'm heading back in a week or two, I'll check them out for you. I noticed a little more palm damage this year over last. Last year all the exotic BLE's where dropping leaves like crazy. Check out pict...
That is super aggravating Barb, this is the time of the year they should be kickin ass too. They should just send you two new inverters and a tech to climb up and see what's up with the braking system. Or they should at least pay up for the energy you would have produced. Sorry to hear that  Bill
That's to bad you can't do that in the winter, that would really help pass the time. Do you have a spot you could set up a little paint studio in your basement?
One of the super high quality (not) thermo cubes went bad in one of the washy huts, so that's trying to die on me right now. I guess time will tell on that one, I've done all I can do, or should say all I'm going to do. There's plenty of palms waiting to jump in it's grave in the greenhouse though. ...
Hey Erik, I'm sure at some point I wrote to you that copper fungicide can be toxic to your plants as did Penny. I think the point we where trying to get across was not to Over Use it. Copper fungicide is a very appropriate product to use in a situation like yours now. Your palms could be in some ser...
Yeah Erik, I left them in the ground will see what happens, I didn't mulch them either  It's hard to get pictures of the greenhouse since I can't back up enough, I'll see what I can do today since it's fairly nice out, to bad the suns not out. Thanks Paul! Looks like you'll be planting some tr...
Another thing about nana seeds is the fresher the better. They can take for ever to germinate if there not fresh. I have hundreds of velutina babies that came up super fast, but they where right off the plant fresh.
Welcome aboard Paul, I'm right outside of Providence. I liked your pictures from Aruba, the last time I was there the natural bridge was still there, so it's been awhile now, wonderful island and super nice people there. Even though we'll never look like Aruba here in the NE, we do our best  H...
Nice pictures Dean, those washies will out grow all that damage in no time, looks like a great weekend for Texas is on the way. It won't be long now and the nice weather will be back.
Looking good so far Tim, where almost out of the woods too, before we know it will be pulling off the palm huts  I like your mini light trials for this year. I also did some experiments exposing a 65 gal minor with no protection and a few different needle palm experiments with just roofs no he...
Oh, Man Jim  That is tough buddy, I was hoping it looked better in my mind after talking yesterday. I wonder if you could just cut a hole in the south side end and take a peek in there before you remove the snow off it. If it looks ok you could just bury the part you cut open with snow, there's...
Yep, Since last year we only got 24" of snow for the entire winter. South of here is where they got bombed with snow from DC to NJ. I took some pictures with my phone yesterday, I'll try to get a few of them posted.
Jesse, We didn't get hit as bad as the middle of the state into New Hampshire. I think we got about 8-11" or so between the two storms, hard to tell since it rained most of the day yesterday. Another one Saturday, wonderful. It might be rain again, we'll see. Any way you slice it there is a maj...
Glad to see you made it through OK Erik, I was worried about you out there Two blizzards in two years, geez, hopefully this won't keep up. Your palms are looking really good too, I'm glad your using c9 bulbs now
There's another Steve from Alabama. He's super knowledgeable, it was most likely him that helped you. :D :D :D . Steve 07 always chimes in when people need help! He's a great resource to this site, if you have a real question take his advice serious as he's a cold hardy pioneer!!! Steve in NJ doesn'...
Nice find Mike. They've been there for years now, a guy named Steve planted them and others all around that area over the years. I'm pretty sure they produced seeds last year. Aren't they right by a bridge heading into Philly? Steve lives in NJ and has a amazing property from what I'm told. I would ...
