Moving well established banana plants

We would like to me our banana plants, but not sure if now is the time to do so or should wait until unwrapping. I usually unwrap according to the Old Farmers Almanac suggested frost dates. Also, just how extensive is the root system?

When should I start protecting my palms and banana trees for the winter. When I saw burlap at the garden centre this summer I bought tons because last fall it was difficult to find any. Yellowing trachy leaves

I was informed that ephsom salt was good to add to trachy plants that have yellow leaves from the winter. However, I wasn't told how much of the salt to use and how often to use it. anyone?? :roll:

Zone 8 sometimes its zone 8a depending on what source your looking at.

some asked me if I knew of a nursery that sells mid sized Yucca elata

I bought a agave americana last spring. For the winter, I had it in a clear plastic garbage bag. It did quite well except for the tips that punctured the bag.. the tips were a little brown, but noticed a new shoot starting at the ground level.. (or whatever the offspring are called)

I found some at HD last summer, I bought one that had a pineapple about 3 inches long. Unfortunately, it didn't make it this winter.

I'm in south Van.. block west from Languara College. There is a house just a block or two away that has a beautiful banana tree tucked in the corner of their yard. its still wrapped.
