Perhaps I'll need to put a grow light in a refrigerator there so I can grow some temperate houseplants!

I'll post some pictures on this forum once in a while. Even though I won't be looking at many cold hardy palm trees as much, I still sure love to grow things!

At this stage in my life, it's much easier to do a big move compared to years from now. I can pack light and go alone without any problems.

I'm going to try and have some interesting houseplants over there for sure. How about a potted Cyrtostachys renda? :D

Desert plants in the Pacific Northwest?

When I was driving a few days ago, I noticed an agave and some prickly pear cacti growing in a traffic circle here in Seattle. I didn't think the climate here was suitable for that, but I guess it is! http://i.imgur.com/c50694jl.jpg This was no special microclimate or anything, and the area gets the...

Hydrogen peroxide takes care of fungus gnats? It should be obvious, but that explains why my majesty palm doesn't have a gnat problem! (I often water it with some H2O2 mixed in)

I'll have to try that with the rest of my palms :D

You bring up a good point about cheese, so I looked into it: http://www.mayoclinic.com/health/food-and-nutrition/AN01024 Apparently mold on soft cheese can be bad, but it's fine to cut off mold on harder cheeses (like cheddar) since the mold can't penetrate that far into it. There's mold everywhere ...

Would scraping the mold off really work? What you see of mold is typically just the fruiting body ( fruiting body ). The rest of the fungal structure is deeply embedded throughout the soil.
