Oops...anyone know anything about germinating?

Post by Arctic Palm » Sun May 13, 2007 4:58 pm

So I picked a bunch of seeds from a mature Sable Palmetto or very similar when I was in Orlando in November 06. I have had them planted since I got back in Nov. I gave up on them and decided to chuck them to make room for new seedlings.
I picked one of the pods up and saw a root sticking out of it. To my surprise ALL had grown tap roots. All the tap roots had grown about an inched outside of the dirt. I quickly planted them in deeper soil and watered the heck out of them. Do you think they will survive or did I just kill them? :?: :?: :?:

If they had tap roots I dont see why they wouldnt survive. If you potted them up after discovering the roots water , heat and light should keep em going.

cedardave,

Thanks. I have had them since Nov and figured they were garbage. I couldn't believe they had sprouted. I hope they make it. I guess we'll see!!!
