dave,

Ok, I'm jealous!! I am still waiting for my Christmas palms to sprout. I looked at some and they have very tiny tap roots starting. So I am keeping my fingers crossed. Yours look great

Nice pictures Dave,

How leaves did your Phoenix theophrastii shoot up before the pinnate leaf emerged?

Pinnate leaf

Hi Phil.

The first pinnate leaf on my P. theophrastii was the fifth leaf from germination. All five have stayed around pretty good, although the first one is getting a bit ragged now.

I've got a bunch of P. dactylifera and some canaries that will be interesting to compare to the theo - so far growth rate on the theo is quite a bit slower than the others. Probably half. That's under pretty similar conditions, but not identical.

Here's a pic that shows mine after 3 years from seed. I do little (unfortunatly) to encorage their growth and are in a serious case of being overgrown with weeds. I am quite surprized at how tough these are even at such a small size.
Cheers, Barrie.

Nice plants guys!

Hey Barrie maybe it's a symbiotic relationship between those weeds and palms!
