Sunshine Help Please

Post by Arctic Palm » Fri Apr 13, 2007 11:03 am

Hey all,

Where I live there seems to be a seriouse lack for sunshine. It has been cloudy for about 2 weeks now with an odd sunny break here and there (very usual). I have all my new bananas and small palms in a southern facing window but I am concerned they are not getting enough light.
Is there a type of light buld or set up that will imatate the sun? Something I could go out and buy. What about those blue and red l.e.ds I see on ebay?
any help would be great.
Thanks

Barrie

Can't you just put them outside somewhere? Even if it's not sunny, natural light, even on a cloudy day is still better.

Cheers, Barrie.

Barrie,

It's still kinda cool around these parts. About 6-8 degrees C. Rain and lots of clouds. I just know its cloudy and thought the palms and bananas could use more sunshine. So your saying that just having them in cloudy light is better than artificial light?
I appriciate all you advice.

The cheapest artificial light would be full spetrum T8/T12 lights. I would also add an infrared heat lamp.
