Really looking good.

How hardy is the Dicksonia antarctica? I like the look of it and am wondering if it would survive in full to part sun.

Laaz,
No actually it gets sun most of the day all year around. The large apple tree blocks out just the morning sun.

Allen,
It is a zone 8 tree. The fronds are usually fried at the end of the winter but new ones grow back in the spring. I can see two new ones coming out now. Each year the fronds get longer. They eventually get to about 9' long. The trunk grows very slowly, about 1 to 2 inches a year. Mine only has 8" of trunk so it will never be a true tree in my life time.

Wow... That has some long stretched out fronds for being in direct sun. Is it a hybrid ?

It's a good looking plant. But not for me. I'm looking for something relatively tall and thin to put behind the palms and provide some foliage until the palms get larger.

I could go with an annual or something exotic that I would cover when I cover the palms.

Here's to all the global warming pushers, may your winters be -30 below and four feet of snow in your driveway. Because I want you happy.

Laaz,
I too have wondered if it is a hybrid. The fronds on it are much larger than my other trachycarpus' I wonder if it is part takil.

Thanks everyone.

There is frond damage on the c. humilis and c. radicalis but I am sure they should be OK.

Warm and sunny here today.

The yucca elata is doing fine. There is still so many exotics I didn't take pics of and that was one of them.
I cut some of the bottom fronds off so you can see the multiple trunks better.
