I germinated some seed and have had it growing for a year. I love the foliage, but even I am not crazy enough to try growing this Zone 9 tree outside.
I am considering making bonsai out of several of them. I will still have some left over and could bring them to the Okanagan when I get my palms if someone else would like them. They are fast growing to 40' outside with pale blue flowers in spring. Inside they will not flower and the lower branches fall off leaving a palm like appearance.
Can any one offer advice on what not to do.

They almost have a tree fern look to them from what I see in your picture. Nice looking tree.
Where did you get the seed?
I wonder if it would grow outside at my place. If it is truely a zone 9 plant then it is a no go.

I got the seed from ebay. There are about 30 auctions on right now. The vendor that I purchased from isn't offering them right now.
I have read that J. acutifolia and J. mimosifolia are synonyms for the same variety.
The Jacaranda is considered a weed in parts of Florida and there are people growing it in Arizona and Eugene, OR. I thought that Oregon was mostly Zone 7 & 8. I know that it is deciduous, but I don't know if it is a solid Zone 9.
I'd mail you one but I don't think that it would survive Canada Post.

Oregon is a zone 7 and zone 8 but when you get close to the California border along the coast near Brookings it is a zone 9.
I guess it depends where in Oregon it is growing
