Almost compete polar shift in winter weather. The west has been cold and above usual snowfall for the first part of the winter here Nov Dec, part of Jan. The snow is gone and temps in the high 40`s to low 50`s 7c to 10c sping is here. The temps are expected to warm even more over the next few days. Seems like the winter gods are hammering the east with what the West had earlier this year. Only 5 more weeks till the official start of spring! Hope everything is going to pull through for you guys in the east.

Looks like near the end of Feb were gonna be above normal here in the east...its been a cruel last 4 weeks though...

It's been quite pleasant in most locations around mid-Island. At the beaches it's been cool with a 10 knot breeze which makes it feel colder. I'm up the slope about a mile from the shoreline and away from the immediate ocean breeze. Temps have been above 50f for several days now, with the warmest reading today at 57f (13.8c). The warmth of the sun is evident now and can be felt when standing in the sun outdoors. Daylight is noticably improving also and the earlier than normal daylight savings time in early March, will extend the evening light hours.

After several of the colder nights this winter, the temperature is supposed to rise to the minus single digits for a high.

Spring may not be here but I can see it coming.

I am running out of time to find an easily assembled, stored and effective winter protection system.

Wet and fairly warm is the forecast for the next five days here.
We are almost clear of any cold weather now, here in Van.

Wes as you know, we can but rarely do, get a short lived light snow dusting or frost even as late as early April. A few years ago we got a light snow fall in early March but I only clearly recall an April dusting back in the late 70's. I recall an unusual event back in the spring of 82 or 83. In late May the temps went into the low 90's right around Mothers Day, and there was a snow storm in Montreal that same day!

I agree it can happen but then again it did get well below freezing just outside of San Deigo this year so anything can happen but rarely does.
