Looks great Barrie. I protect mine with an overhead cover and when it got cold at the end of November I put a comforter around it. I checked on it today and it looks fine however a small chamaerops had its spear pull out today. It did not have any protection. My larger chamaerops are fine though. Not one sign of winter damage.
I am going to put an over head cover on my small chamaerops until the summer. I hope it makes a come back. It was it's first year in the ground and was quite small.

Hi Wes,
Your small Chamaerops should recover so long as the weather doesn't get stupid. The smaller specimen do seem to have periodic trouble and sometimes don't recover. Some preventative measures at this time should go along way to ensuring it has a fighting chance.
As for my Brahea armata, all I do is tuck and wrap burlap around the crown when nasty weather strikes. Remove it ASAP when the weather breaks. It was planted as a 15 gal palm. Now that I think of it, I seem to recall you picking up a small B. armata at my place a couple of years back. Did it ever make it?
Yes it is still alive but small. It grows about two to three fronds a year right now.
Between my son and dog it looses the same number each year also. I protect it with an overhead cover and when it gets cold I out a comforter around it, It has never shown any damage due to the winter. When it gets larger I won't provide as much protection.
