Bought one that is about 2' tall with a 9" "trunk" the size of a pencil. Has two strap leaves and a third starting to open.
I bought "Miracle Grow Cactus, Palm & Citrus" soil and added some more perlite & a bunch of Pensacola Beach sand. Watered in well. I know I need to keep in in filtered sun for now, but any more advice? Any thoughts on what I have done so far????
Thanks!

Kansas,

Nice soil mix...try for as much winter sun as you can...

My advice---

Spray mist her 3 times daily....

Water her only when she absolutely needs it..for now...

Sounds like a real nice palm...

Got it in the bathroom with an East sun that hits right on her for about 10-15 minutes, then it's just regular sun light coming thru. Probably the brightest spot in the house for all day.
Also, since it is in the bathroom, I am hopeing that the fog from the three showers a day (Me, wife, 4 year old son) helps with the humidity levels.

Kansas,

You come across some real neat specimans?

Sounds like you've got all the right stuff...just watch the mold and mildew from too much humidity...

She should be fine...
