yucca filamentosa x yucca rostrata : a trunk ?

Post by yucca80 » Thu Oct 25, 2018 8:47 am

Hello everyone,

Notice to amateurs or yuccas specialists,

I recently bought a hybrid yucca that I bought in a 12 liter pot recently on the net. It is a yucca filamentosa x yucca rostrata (blue swan), result of a French hybridization. According to the seller, this yucca would be unique in Europe, withstand -25 ° C and above all is sold as tree but I'm not sure. Do you think that with age, this hybrid yucca could really form a trunk like yucca rostrata?

Here are 3 photos that I posted on another forum:

In advance, thank you very much for your answer,

Hello Yucca 80... I have both of Fred Julien's hybrids and other hybrids as well. A member who used to post on here regularly Tim Beehan has a fine specimen produced from seed by Benny Jensen in Denmark. As the seed produced is on the filamentosa plant it is unlikely to produce a trunk similar to yucca rostrata. Here's a link http://growingontheedge.net/viewtopic.php?p=83489
