Nice new S.Lou leaf, this palm was left uncovered
over winter and saw at least -10F (-23C) and probably
over a months worth of lows under 10F (-12C)
there were a few other Sabal(Brazoria,McCurtain) and Needle palms,
all the Sabal came back amazingly!

Jim, do you mean that you didn't protect the Sabal Louisiana at all?

Yeah, my question. Do let us know more about Sabal.

Hoping KrisK listens in about 'Lou" but I'm excited about McCurtain especially.

Wow. If you had asked me, I'd have said the Sabal would be dead if uncovered And likely if covered and not heated.

I'm guessing the McCurtain would have survived too if uncovered. I'm going to have to get me a S. Louisiana.

I'm pretty unimpressed with needle palms in this area. I've started protecting mine from moisture as soon as freezing precipitation starts.

Hey Jim,

do you think the Lou would've survived if it had had a trunk? It seems like my Yucca Gloriosas do fine in the winter until they get a trunk.

Funny you ask,NO WAY.

That is what saved them, the Needle palms
all had growth point above ground.
