This was June 7th 2015 / C.Cooperi putting out its first long frond.

Temps averaged about 66F/82F (19C/28C) with over 4" of rain

Can't believe it makes it in the ground all winter..nice growth there

They are actually very easy to grow and cover here,
they really don't mind the humidity in the protection...esp
if you can pop the top and let them breath once over winter
(which I didn't do this past winter)....One major issue is that
you really have to be ready to cover them fast if the forecast
is blown-the D.Antarctica is the lone survivor of the original 4 or
5 I planted-a forecasted 27-28F ended up being 18F.
