Like everywhere else on the east cost we suffered from a horrible winter. In fact for our area it was the worst winter in 80 years. I lost 30% of my hardy tropical, mostly palms without much protection. Pictures are from mid July and sorry for the poor quality pics.

Impressive yard! What are all the species of palms do you have in the ground that you over winter besides the Windmill? Did I see a CIDP or some kind of Buta?

The windmills, waggy, needle and european fan palm stay in the ground and are covered by a insulated box.

What kind of palm is this that appears to be in the ground....





BTW, good for you with the European Fan palm being in the ground. I have almost no luck with palms that prefer dry climates. While in California this spring I did pick up some (3 green, 1 blue) European Fan palms and have two small green ones in the ground right next to foundation of house on South side.......$6 each at Walmart so we'll see how they do.......

Phoenix of what species? and is it newly planted in the ground this Summer? or is it in a pot in the ground that you pull up in the fall?

It's a Phoenix canariensis. It does not like our wet winters so I pull it out and it goes in the garage for the winter.

Got it, thanks. Anxious to hear how Barb's does after this winter although from what I understand she lives in the dry part of Canada.
