E.viridiflorus just finished blooming,Chin cactus from the cactus bed here.

The little C.Cerifera in back(next to the edge of the outside protection)was insulated more with snow (outside snow cover),it did well,
the other was next to the edge and almost completely pulled,with damage-but coming back fast.

Mad-palm almost bloomed last year-it will have 2 growth points this summer.

T.ferns were a little mushy from being covered all winter-they are coming back,new crozier on the Cooperi here.

The Princeps did have a little damage on a leaf that
was kinda sticking out,I cut it off...it has almost replaced it.

any chance the Sequoiadendron branches are alive? That 'was' a beauty!!

I doubt it....the branches were all tried out,cant even see any green in the trunk....
probably died first as there is almost no moisture in the tree.

I burned it to allow any branches that MAY sprout a chance a full sun right off...
and also to see if this gets any responce from the tree.

Man oh man, how sad that Sequoia took such a hit.
I know how much you loved that.

I think the Gladiola and Tetrapanex are history for starters.

Bummer about the Sequoia. I grew up in Oregon with one in the front yard and had dreams that children would one decade climb up high in yours, in Iowa. I really thought yours would make it.

To cheer you up, your palms look great. And, tree fern! While I was too optimistic about your Sequioa, I was pessimistic about any of those working for you.

The Sequoia was a favorite.....


I lit in on fire the other day...pretty dried out and no green (inside or out)to be seen.


Really a matter of the power-& protection staying on when I am not here
I usually lift the lids when I can over winter to let out moisture but with lots of
snow and cold and me no here...there was quite a moisture build up!


Every palm has some damage but most of it is from to much heat-before I got home.

There was on day I know for sure that was 84F....thats got to be rough,I know the cactus enclosure hit 120F.
