Some new plantings today to kick off spring!

I picked up my 5 Magnolia virginiana 'Northern Belles' yesterday and planted them today. I planted 3 at work where I am doing a complete landscape overall to the new building we are moving in. I planted 2 in my front yard which will hopefully help compliment my 'Edith Bogue' and '24 Below' -- I hope they recover -- and also compliment my windmill palm. I'm trying to do a few less plantings that I have to dig up each fall since I will be going nuts at work with tropicals and that will take up more of my time.

So without further adieu, here are the pictures. These suckers are 8' tall already!!

Tag says hardy to -30F :) We'll see about that. The one I planted last year in my backyard fried its leaves after -16F this past winter -- but the branches and cambium is still green, so I don't expect dieback.

If only nurseries up here were brave enough to get a few of these.....

Slightly unrelated question.... do you remember when you started your papaya seeds last year?

Beautiful stock, Tim.
Your yard is bustin' at the seams with beautiful stuff.
Palm looks perfect after winter.

Yeah, the nurseries down here won't even carry those northern belles even though the tag says zone 4. The guy says they aren't hardy here, lol so I had to special order it.

I started the papayas the last week of March. I have a new batch in my greenhouse right now awaiting germination.
