You think I can get them to live in Indiana? I thought I saw one coming back home form my trip to R&R music shop.

Yep, I have 2 of them and I have seen many large ones around town. We're pretty much the same climate. My Brackens Brown Beauty looks burnt but never defoliated. My Edith Bogue looks much less burnt. They need lots of water the first couple of years to get them established.

There's actually a hardy cultivar of M. grandiflora which originates in Indiana, called "Simpson's Hardy".
