Sequoia sempervirens

Who tried Sequoia sempervirens in zones 6 and 5 (for example, in a form of a small shrub)? (As I know, this species is usually rated for zone 7a, but it is a fast-growing tree)

I suggest Seqouiadendendron giganteum. It has done fine for us here in 7a.
Sequoia sempervirens is much more finicky, rated at best 8a, and prefers coast cloud forest conditions, which I know I cannot replicate.
Our S. giganteum grew from 31" last year this time to 62" now. Seed grown from 2006. Seven years old, outdoor planted in spring 2009.
