Article projet for Plantaexotica n°4
Dear all members,
I am working on Plantaexotica, a french e-journal devoted to exotic gardening.
This is the n°2 here : http://www.societe-francaise-acclimatat ... 3avril.pdf
I will prepare the n°4. And I want to present some crazy examples of exotic protection. So if you have nice pictures of Washingtonia, Phoenix, Butia,... growing in zone 4, 5 or 6, feel free to send me. Any information or history about your palms are also welcome (coldest temperatures, date of plantation, type of protection,...).
Thank you in advance.

Hello jmdupuyoo! Well I'm not in zone 4, 5, or 6 but in zone 7. I have some success with Butia odorata, Brahea armata, Sabal minor, Rhapidophyllum hystrix, Trachycarpus fortunei, Trachycarpus wagnerianus, Chamaerops humilis and Chamaerops humilis var. cerifera. All my palms was protected without heating, only mulch, fleece and rain/snow protection. Garden is cca 20-30 km east from Zagreb. Here is pictures and link for nearest whether station http://www.tutiempo.net/en/Climate/Zagr ... 142400.htm

Love all the palms(esp the blue ones!)
Cool shot of the Waggie in November too.

I really like that pic of the giant Agave with the life sized snowman
built next to it-never seen anything like that before!

Thanks Jim! I'm just a beginner compared to you. I'm impressed with your effort in overwintering exotics in zone 5

Zabola/dida, great to see you here. Scalar really pushes the limits with numerous species (Butia, Phoenix, Chamaerops, Washingtonia etc.) in zone 7.
