Ensete seed question

Post by canadianplant » Sat Jun 22, 2013 2:23 pm

I never seem to have great success germinating banana seed. I managed to germinate a few but I have tried the 2 Ensete species multiple times without any luck.

Last year i got a batch and sowed them around august. Until a week or 2 ago they were in a baggie with some moist medium. All seeds had no rot no holes in them, were rock solid and sunk, but no sign of germination even with a few days in water. Has anyone here managed to germinate Ensete and what do you think is going on here? I do know they can be generally stubborn to germ...

Thanks.

I tried once over winter...maybe in a pot outside during the summer, seems like they might need some heat to pop!
