Tim, im glad to see your Illicium survived! It did take a bit of damage though eh?

In the pic of the columbine, in the back ground is a yucca that doesnt look too good. Is that the "elata" that died after flowering?

Nice shots, everyone!

Tim, judging by your chive bloom photos, I'm guessing that you're about 1-1.5 weeks ahead of me weather-wise.

And if you look closely, you'll see how lazy I was in not cutting last year's off (can never find the clippers)

Still hoping that one day it'll become one of those rare female/male on the same tree. (the term escapes me right now...)

We are a month or so behind our average. Things that come out later like the ash trees are alright, but it looks like most of my fruit trees are going to bloom at relatively the same time.

No frost this morning, just some on the east facing roofs, nothing near the ground thank god....

We had a little heat before they were big enough to enjoy but just not
warm enough lately-that looks to be changing today...

heres a youngster a week ago-there's probably a taller one legging it out with the Bamboo.

Michael, what stunning photos.
If we didn't know where you lived, we'd guess Panama :D
Incredible 3 month early nanner bloom.
Imagine not having to dig cannas in Fall...wow.

Happy to see that Cordyline bloom again.
Still waiting for mine to send up a spike.

Agree with Jesse, think that mystery seedling is Datura.

And Jim...good one!
Makes up for the massive head start you had last year, beginning in March.

if anyone in the area grows them, birds eat the seeds, and one pod can have hundreds of seeds, and eat plant can have dozens of pods.... Theyre root hardy to about zone 8, but self seed up to zone 6 I think it is...

I figured it would be birds, I'm just surprised they would survive winter. This is interesting "The plant has been described throughout history as a toxin famous for its mind-altering properties. There are references to it in Homer's Odyssey, and Shakespeare's plays: Hamlet, Romeo and Juliet, and Anthony and Cleopatra.(2)

It is one of a group of plants known as "belladonnas," thought to be named from their use by Italian women to dilate their pupils, which was considered beautiful.(3) It was also known to be used for the medicinal treatment of colds and asthma, and for religious purposes.(5) Its most common name, Jimson Weed, is a contracted form of Jamestown Weed, after its use was described in 1676, in Jamestown, Virginia. This was the first record in the United States of physical symptoms following its ingestion by British troops sent to halt Bacon's Rebellion, as noted in Beverly's "History and Present-State of Virginia."(4)"
