When to start protecting Agave's
I have some Agave Harvardia and Agave Parryi in a raised bed made up of pea gravel and sand. I was wondering when is the best time to start protecting them because its been in the 40's at night and its been raining a lot. Also do you think I should protect my Yucca Rostratas over the winter like do something to protect the crown? Just wondering, Thanks
Bryce G.

The agave and yucca experts will likely chime in, but I recall everyone saying they should be completely protected from cold Fall rains.
Should go into winter dry.

If you drink, don't drive. Don't even putt.

Bryce, a plastic roof (no sides) will keep rain off now.
Still lets heat/wind/air circulate, and soil continues to warm during nice days, cooling naturally later on.
Great that your weather is so warm ...

Anything you can put over the top to keep them dry....
I usually put a rain cover up starting Oct 1-(or at least when it rains)
from here on out....
