Yucca flaccida x 'reverchonii-thompsoniana'
I planted another Yucca flaccida x 'reverchonii-thompsoniana'. Seed parent was Y. flaccida. I love the blue leaves on these. Looks like they have reverchonii type roots too.

Aaron, cool if you got some twisted leaves in some of your seedlings. Keep me updated on that trait. I find that sometimes hybrids have a twist in the leaves when young but after 3 years or so the twist is lost. Not sure what causes that.
Next time I run my fingers along the leaf edge I'll add some ketchup for some excitement.

yes I already know from 2000 to 2002 testing..........I guess I forget how hardy Eucs are. ........they aren't hardy!!
It was a treat to have some survive last winter (2nd mildest on record). This year will likely be in the top ten mildest..........Eucs have no chance with a 'normal' winter. Our long term average has about 25 days/season which fail to reach 32F (0C). This year we are at 9 days. The only 'normal' temp we had was the coldest high temp..........Providence hit 16F one day..........we generally dont' drop below 10F for a high temp that often...............living near the Ocean has it's benefits!

Hi Aaron,
I don't have any Y. rupicola x thompsoniana............I wish I did!
I'm not sure which hybrid it is but I like yours with the 'U' shaped leaves. I guess we will be able to see more traits when it grows up a bit more...............can you read rupicola or thompsoniana on the label?

Hi Aaron,
I'm thinking I may have sent you a seedling of Y. rupicola x filata or Y. filata x rupicola.........that's why it's so large already. These are German Hybrids created by Michael Bechtold in 2009......I forget which way the cross was be I have records of it. Does this sound correct?
I checked my PMs and already deleted the PM relating to this.

Hi Aaron,
boy what a difference the view from the top makes.................this top view sure shows the reverchonii-thompsoniana genes.
The hybrids I made with reverchonii-thompsoniana are:
Y. flaccida x reverchonii-thompsoniana
Y. recurvifolia 'Tennessee' x reverchonii-thompsoniana (I ID the recurv. as a flaccida......it was sent to me as a recurv.)
Y. filamentosa x reverchonii-thompsoniana
Y. flaccida 'variegata' x reverchonii-thompsoniana (I didn't send many seeds out of this hybrid)
Y. 'constricta x filamentosa' x 'reverchonii-thompsoniana (limited seed......you probably didn't get this one).
I don't recall which types I mailed you.

Here's to all the global warming pushers, may your winters be -30 below and four feet of snow in your driveway. Because I want you happy.

It is showing great signs of cold hardy genes, no cover on this gem.

good to hear Y. reverchonii can take the cold. I have a 'regular' reverchonii but it really doesn't like our climate/soils.........my guess is that it wants a higher pH soil..............need to buy some lime! The other form I have is the reverchonii-thompsoniana which appears to be an intermediate form between reverchonii and thompsoniana which grows short trunks......this one likes my climate and blooms every other year but is located under my Southern Magnolia tree........not much sun anymore............I may have to move it.

3 seed grown plants are going to bloom this season........one has a red stem (like the pollen donor) and two have green stems.
