On another forum, it was reported that the minimum March temp recorded in either Munsiyari or Kalamuni (I forget which one, but both are general Takil habitat) was -8 C. And that was in March, which is when things are supposed to be warming up! I would think that T. takil would be at least as hardy as regular T. fortunei.

Barb it will be interesting to see what they mean by bitterly cold winters. If T. takil survives -20c without protection for short durations. I`ll buy some of the seeds. Great looking palm.

Takil grows at(up too)2800m,it's habitat in the higher areas sees up to 5' of snow Nov-March.
Temps range from 15F/25F sometimes colder at night and highs are in the 50/60F range.
Sometimes it's colder with highs below freezing.
If you want to see all Hebert's and Alexander's photos look on Growing on the edge forum
or on the EPS(European Palm Society)-both are great sites.
