Washingtonia filifera seeds?

I have had great success growing W.filifera and W. filibusta . I just returned from Mexico 3 weeks ago and smuggled "LOL" 30 seeds back lying on the desert dirt 20 out of 30 germinated so far. My question is what time of year do Washingtonias send seeds out? The seeds I collected looked as if they had been baking in the sun for a good long time. My somewhat educated guess is in the fall when seed pods start. If that is the case the seeds I collected are 5 1/2 months old . LONG live Washingtonia palms!

The flower stocks are just coming out now. By fall they have turned to seed. From September to December is the best time to harvest the seeds. I too have brought them back from Cali and Mexico but always between these months.
They are an amazing palm that spreads like a weed in the south but can not last in the wet PNW. Too bad because they are the fastest growing palm.

Thanks Wes for the info. I plan on keeping all but a couple of mine in pots each year and trying them in the ground with winter protection.
