New Winter Predictions for 2011!
Looking at the newest winter predictions for this winter (Environment Canada), it looks like the area of 'warmer than average' weather has expanded... Cold in the west (Sorry Barb).
January and February:
January, February, March:
Hooray! I hope it is correct!

I hope the f/cast for the West =
So, Paul, I suppose you're not protecting ANYTHING this winter.

If only I had a garden here in T.O. that would be the case (ok, well palms and bananas would get protection)... No, I've got everything pretty well wrapped up, even in 'mild' years Kingston only manages a zone 6 (7a once, I think) winter!
For my sake I hope the forecast is correct, for your sake I hope the forecast for the west is wrong!

Thanks, hope you've got some "pull" on that wish...for your sake I hope the forecast for the west is wrong!
How about some protection pics of your stuff?

I will try when I get back to the garden... A lot of it just looks silly right now, like the bamboo that bent down to get covered with snow. With 0 snow they are just bamboo bent down the ground. Very awkward looking!

No matter how that looks, im in between cold air and warm air. Means a decent winter temp wise, but If im not mistaken im going to be dead center for the storm track.....

WOOT!!!!!
That is exactly what I was hoping/thinking would happen!!! Although today you wouldnt know. -12C for a high and feels like -20C :S Good thing plants arent effected too much by windchill. Still, this is "normal" for us, except the temps mentioned are usually from december to february! They have been really rare this year.
I really, really hope that this forecast is right. It looks like average rainfall too, which is a bonus! Looks like a very, very good growing season here so far......
Everyone keep their hopes up!

We were predicted to have a colder than normal Dec. Jan. Funny thing is that nobody asked mother nature what her plans were. It turned out to be well above average Dec. and the first two weeks of Jan. Now the cold snap hit here two days ago coldest so far 18c-0f . Two more days to go and we are above normal again. I don`t put to much stock in man made computer models telling us how cold or warm we will be. http://www.theweathernetwork.com/fourte ... k_lt_14day

Jeez John, way to kill the fun. Even if it is not accurate (if you look at the second pics in each series, it shows how accurate the predictions have been historically) they are still fun!
Like I said, we've had -13.3C here downtown, -21C at my garden; both of these marks are well above 'normal'... Oh, and we've only touched our average temps a few times this winter. It's been good so far!

Paul sorry to wreck your fun . That was not the intention. Seems these computer models are wrong more often than not the longer out the prediction is. My prediction is a mild enough winter that everybody`s palms survive to see the spring. Warming up here now after our arctic outbreak. http://www.theweathernetwork.com/fourte ... k_lt_14day
