Update: Yucca Elata in Oroville Wa. March 25 2011

Post by Jay-Admin » Sat Mar 26, 2011 12:54 pm

I was driving through Oroville Wa. yesterday and thought I should get a couple after
winter pics of the famous Yucca Elata in Oroville Washington.

They still look great. :)

I always love seeing pics of that elata! Any idea on the lowest temps that it's gone through? Have you ever managed to get some seeds?

THanks for the pics! Cam- I don't think it would produce seeds there... Am I wrong?

Jay, very nice. They sure look good. I think I read that plant was planted in the late 60's. :D

Here's to all the global warming pushers, may your winters be -30 below and four feet of snow in your driveway. Because I want you happy.

Jay so glad they are still there. Maybe they can designate them a heritage yucca in Oroville Wa. Planted in 1962 if I recall? I wonder if those young ones underneath are from the the original plantings?

I would have to say they are my favorite yuccas. :) Not sure on the exact lows for that area but i'm sure it gets cold.
Never had a chance to look for seeds so not sure.
@John - That would be a cool designation. My fear is someday they will tear that place down to build condos. Can only
hope they will keep the yuccas there. I think those young ones would be from the original plantings.
