West Coast Palm Update

Hi everyone!
It's been fairly mild here on the west coast in the last few weeks, however we did get our first blast of snow near the end of November. It melted within 3 days and back to normal highs of 9C. Over Christmas it got colder again with lows of -6C. The Trachy in the palm hut is doing really well and the Trachy without the hut is still covered with a large orange plastic garbage bag to keep it dry. Today I went out to check underneath and the leaves of course were a bit frosted up. Until our freezing passes I decided to open it up, wrap the center spear in burlap and then wrap the rest of it up in burlap only a couple of layers, not much. I put two garbage bags over it this time, so I'm sure this will be fine until the warmer temps hit again.

Here's wishing everyone a happy new year and all the best to you and yours! And our PALMS!
