A possible aid in moisture reduction?

I was just sitting here, and a thought occured to me: Cant you use the "wicking" materials to reduce moisture in winter prodection? Sure its expensive, But the material is made to pull moisture away from our skin. Couldnt you apply that to reducing moisture for plants?

Yup, and this was one of the ideas of Dr Franko of the book "Palms won't grow here....." He suggested that we should try to fill the trunk top of a Trachy with some material and apply water repellents generously...

My cheap version of this concept is to use burlap (hessian) as trunk wrap as it is naturally wicking and has some anti-fungal qualities. And did I mention it is cheap?

i was thinking that wiking material atheletes use to keep themselves dry. under armor uses it in their clothing..

I find that good ole fashioned air is much better than wrapping your palms too tight with fabric.
