Will a female trachy produce seeds even if their is no male tree in the area? If so, I would assume they would not be viable. Is this correct?

Here's a quote from a long-time member:
Windmill palms Trachycarpus fortunei produce infloresence (flowers) not seeds. You need the presence of a male and female tree to produce seed. Seed will only form on a female tree when pollonated by a male tree. On very rare occasions both types of infloresece may appear on a single tree, thus cloning itself. Again, a very rare occurance.
