This is the time for sales.
Last year I got very cheap palms down in Texas: everything in a 5 gallon pot was US$15.
My local (Tulsa) Home Depot has palms for half off the last sales price. I can replace my dying Butia for US$45 in a 15 gallon pot, for example, but the price may go lower next week.
Stokes Tropicals had 75% off every plant, but locally I've been successful at holding out for 100% off!
Who else is seeing bargains?

Plant Delights tends to have very small plants. It is often moot as they seem to be the only one selling a great many exotic species. However, larger Sabals can be had elsewhere.
Don't get me wrong. I have targeted a whole bunch of stuff from PDN for my spring madness, err, projects.
Erik- there are always bargains to be had at the big boxes. I grabbed a Butia for 20 bucks.

Jack, that is great. I'll see if I can match that in a week. The sales guy let slip that all palms have to be gone by Nov. 1.

This is what you do. Go back there tonight and hide a few behind something horrid that nobody would ever buy. Then "find" them after the final price drop.
Play yer cards right and you can create Samoa in your backyard.

Your prices is a joke. I payed 175 USD for one foot stem Wagnerianus in the only one Almaty's garden centre selling some palms. Oh, boy, I wished I buy the stuff in the Northern America!

Igor, sounds like you need to go into the palm business!
Wagnerianus are more expensive here, too. I'm curious what Bill will be selling his for, but my one the size you are talking about was US$65 on sale.
The cheap palms around here are Washingtonia robusta as they grow so fast. Same with Phoenix roebellini.

I believe this Dutch company selling the palms all over Europe has it's nurseries in south of China, Thailand and Malasia. I won't compete with them! Some day I visit Toronto another day for the palms shoping. But I sware it's not very cheap one too.
